EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS
JOB PLACEMENT SERVICE

KACS has assisted nearly 500 Koreans at varying stages of the immigration and citizenship process with various services. KACS has been participating in the New Americans Initiative which is an unprecedented state program, administered by the Illinois Coalition for Immigration helping more than 340,000 legal permanent residents become U.S. citizens. Some of the free services range from citizenship preparation to application assistance, civics classes, and legal screenings.

Employment Counseling and Placement Services program at KACS has been providing a wide variety of employment services to help clients seek out jobs in English, Spanish, and Korean. KACS has placed over 10,000 job seekers in gainful employment since 1972. Job fairs are held twice a year, attracting dozens of employers.

Job Search Resources and Training opportunities are also available to assist clients in the search for employment. Immigration and Citizenship Services provide clients with the information and assistance necessary for the immigration and naturalization process.

Core Services has set out to achieve several goals and plans in the near future. They would like to utilize the Workforce Development program to assist Korean Americans and Latinos in the Chicago metropolitan area in the search for employment and to maximize workforce potential. KACS would like to establish relations with and provide support to the smaller Korean businesses through the Korean Chamber of Commerce, Korean community Media, and other Korean American and Latino businesses. It is a future goal to host more superior job fairs with more employment opportunities and more mainstream, diverse employers.

Core Services would like to provide job-training programs that will assist in the Korean Workforce Training Assessment and Planning Project. Finally, KACS would like to acquire Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) accreditation to live up to expectations of the Korean community and to meet the current immigration reforms.
