COMPUTER CLASS
KACS offers basic computer skills classes for beginning computer users. The classes
cover topics such as Microsoft Windows, internet, email, and Microsoft
Word.
Classes last for eleven weeks per
session. Courses cost $40 or $30 for seniors.
Classes are currently offered in Korean, Spanish and English Monday through
Saturday. Class times and schedules can change, so please call 773-583-5501
and ask for more information.
KACS is now an official Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) Testing Center. We offer certification preparation courses and discounted testing vouchers.
We provide certification training through our new partnership with Elevate America. KACS will train you to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exam with free certification vouchers and free professional tech training.

ESL/CIVICS CLASSOur ESL/Civics program
helps students not only learn English, but also gain confidence and information
about getting around U.S. society. Students include immigrants from Korea,
Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Poland, Morocco, and India. They
learn things like how to talk to doctors, find housing, get a job, and
use computers.
KACS offers beginning
and intermediate levels of ESL/Civics classes. The classes focus on English
language skills for practical use and understanding the rights and responsibilities
of living in the U.S. Classes meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays
in the evenings. The cost for the class is the textbook cost of $20.
The beginning level class covers: Introduction to the English alphabet
Basic vocabulary and grammar for everyday English use Basic pronunciation
skills Introduction to U.S. civics Introduction to Internet and email.
The intermediate level class covers: Improving daily conversational skills
Improving pronunciation Navigating key institutions of life in the U.S.
Rights and responsibilities of U.S. residents Introduction to Internet
and email.

CITIZENSHIP CLASS
The goal of this class
is to help students to pass the citizenship exam. Classes are offered
once a week.

LITC-TAX CLINIC
The goal of the LITC program is to make
Korean American federal taxpayers participate in this education programs
about taxpayer rights and responsibilities through various workshops,
presentations, and media campaign. KACS will also distribute various
brochures and flyers containing information about taxpayer's rights and responsibilities. |
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Computer class teacher Teach basic computer skills to a class of up to 14 adults, in Korean, Spanish or English. Training and curriculum are provided. Schedule: once a week for 3 hours in the morning, evening, or Saturdays, for 10 weeks. Location: KACS computer lab

ESL/Civics class teacher’s assistant Assist ESL/Civics class teacher to conduct activities, work with individual students, and administer tests. Schedule: 1-2 days per week, mornings or evenings at KACS or other locations

Citizenship tutor Work one-on-one with adults to help them learn information and skills necessary to take the U.S. citizenship exam, using textbooks and other curriculum. Schedule and location are flexible, depending on tutor and tutee needs.

Arts class/workshop teachers aide Assist teachers to conduct classes and workshops in various art media to children and adults. Schedule: one-time or ongoing, at various locations.
